I am writing this article today, as many people have told me that they get nervous during an Interview. It's a pity to know that even though they have good credentials and a very nice CV, they end up not getting a job.

So, here are some of the tips that I would like to share with you, and I hope you will find them useful.

The Interview is one of the most important steps for getting a job. The cover letter and resume can interest an employer, but the Interview will make or break your chances of landing a job.

Also, I would like to tell you, It is Normal to be nervous and scared, but being prepared will help you to do your very best.

What does the Interviewer look for?

  1. The first and foremost thing to understand is “What does the Interviewer look for?”
  2. They are looking to see if your technical skills match the job requirements.
  3. They ask specific questions to see if you are a good match for a particular team.
  4. They look for “specific qualities or behaviors” to ensure that you will be successful on the job and planning to stay in the company for a good amount of time.

Before Interview

Following are some of the things which I would recommend everyone to do:

  1. Use Self Study Techniques
This is the common thing to do for every type of Interview but what to study may differ. For Example, if it is a programming interview then make sure to improve your logics in programming by practicing hard problems. You can take them from the Internet or from books.
I would like to give another example, let's say you are going for the Interview of Accountancy and Finance, then make sure you to read about current affairs in the financial sector and examine a few great examples of strategies used by major companies.
  2. Mirror Practice
This might sound a little old school, but believe me, this works. Especially for those people who are very knowledgeable but can't express their knowledge in an effective way. By practicing in front of the mirror you will find a good amount of confidence in yourself and also, gain insights and reflect on how can you actually present your knowledge.
  3. Probable Questions Data Bank
There are so many websites and blogs that tell you about the questions that are raised in the Interview and how to give answers to them. Try to understand and go through those questions to be well aware of the questions.
  4. Food
Always have a light amount of food before the Interview, DO NOT GO ON AN EMPTY STOMACH. Make sure you eat enough to be energetic and not too much to BURP! or YAWN in front of the Employer.
  5. Know your CV
You should know what you have written in the CV. Make sure each and every piece of information is given correctly and in an understandable manner. Many questions are asked to cross-check the contents written in the CV.
Make sure to add sections in the CV.
  6. Social Networking Profiles
If your social networking profile is public make sure everything is properly updated. If not, make sure you apply proper security settings.
Also, if you know the name of the Interviewer make sure to check his profile, work experience, and knowledge.

Well, these are certain tips which one should follow before the Interview. I will be sharing different parts of the same consisting of What are the tips During the Interview and What to do after the Interview.

Till then, if you like this and it helps you in some way make sure to share it as well.
