Jonelle Basso

Dr. Jonelle Basso, a native of the beautiful twin island republic of Trinidad and Tobago, is a postdoctoral researcher at the Joint Genome Institute (JGI) Berkeley Lab. She received her PhD in microbiology from the University of Tennessee Knoxville, and spent her PhD focused on bacteria-virus interactions in the marine environment. As a postdoc however, she is interested in the interactions between plants and bacteria and is working to optimize plant root colonization by microbiota of interest.
