Write a blog

Write, preview and submit a blog for review, and what the content check looks for.

Start a new blog

  1. Open Blogs in the studio.
  2. Press Create a new blog. The blog editor opens with a new draft.

The editor has these tabs: Editor, Videos, Banner image, Preview, Publish, Listen and Collaborators.

Write it

In the Editor tab, add a title, choose at least one category, and write your blog.

  • Images: drag an image into the editor, paste it, or use the image button in the toolbar.
  • Videos: upload a video in the Videos tab and press Copy URL. Then insert it with the editor's video button.

Your draft saves automatically as you type.

Write for the reader, not for search engines. A specific title and a strong first paragraph do more than a long list of keywords.

Pick a banner image

The banner appears in listings and at the top of your blog. Upload it in the Banner image tab. A wide, uncluttered image works best.

Preview it

The Preview tab shows the blog the way readers will see it. Check the headings, images and videos before you submit.

Submit it for review

Before you can submit, your blog needs a title, content, at least one category and a banner image. The Publish tab shows what's still missing.

  1. Open the Publish tab. Your content is checked against our guidelines automatically.
  2. Press Submit for review.
  3. A moderator reviews it, usually within 24–48 hours. We'll email you if anything needs to change.

Changed your mind? Press Withdraw submission to turn it back into a draft.

Turn on Show author information to show your name and bio under the blog and be listed on the Contributors page.

No advertising

Blogs that read like an advertisement can't be published. If the check flags your blog, the Publish tab explains why. Remove the promotional parts and press Check again. If you think it was flagged by mistake, email us.

The check runs again when you change a published blog. If it's flagged then, the blog is taken off the site until you fix it.

Listen

Published blogs get an AI-narrated audio version that readers can play. The Listen tab shows its status. After you change a published blog, the audio is made again, usually within a few minutes. Until then, readers hear the previous version.

Change or unpublish a blog

Published blogs don't save automatically. Make your changes and press Press to save when they're ready.

To take a blog off the site, press Unpublish in the Publish tab. It goes back to draft, and you'll need to submit it for review again to republish it.
